Candlelight: Tribute to Michael Jackson Grand Rapids Concert reviews
Amazing and electrifying
"The Candlelight: 90s Hip Hop on Strings skills have not faded! I was worried I would lose that connection and energy that you have in smaller settings. As a devoted fan for the past 7 years, I had the privilege of seeing them in varying venues - obivously ranging from smaller to larger as they grew in popularity. This show was amazing not just because they themselves have always been energetic and talented musicians - but because thy haven't lost the feel and energy that gets transmitted to the audience. I could not have been more satisfied with their show that now includes greater light effects, screens, their name in flashing bulbs and a disco ball - all of which they used with constraint without going overboard. I could not have been more wrong - this is a band I am now convinced cannot dissapoint no matter how many people love them. My friend and I drove 8 hours round trip to see them and it was worth the gas and sleep deprivation - i had never seen them in such a large setting and as one who frequently attends small shows with more intimate performer to audience contact i was apprehensive to say the least to go to this show."
Amazing
"VIP experience was simply incredible - to be able to interact with some of our favorite singers really brought them down from the pedestal that we so often put celebrities on. Our whole family is a big fan of his. Most important - it was wonderful to see their passion for Christ in them outside of the words in their songs. We Got the VIP passes and had a blast! It was fun to laugh and see the lightheartedness of them. Our 16 and 12 yr old wanted to see Candlelight: 90s Hip Hop on Strings ... our family is a big fan of his."
Room for improvement
I wished there were more activities for the kids. This event was promoted as a free games opportunity for children, however, only one section offered complimentary activities for them. The other games were quite costly and it made it difficult for me and my three boys to keep up. The giveaways distributed during the practice session distracted those of us who were interested in observing the players' training. The crowd was obstructing the view, all trying to catch merchandise, while my kids struggled to watch the players' techniques for improvement. I was anticipating the players to be equipped with microphones (only one was), although I can see how that could pose a challenge. Offering more affordable games would have made the event more family-friendly and still generated funds for the partnership. Charging $20 for a chance to get a grab bag was exorbitant.
